Entertainment announced for You’re Welcome Edmonton Awards

Exceptional employees in Greater Edmonton’s hospitality industry were honoured in festival style at Edmonton Tourism’s 8th annual You’re Welcome Edmonton (YWE) awards gala last night (May 13) at the Winspear Centre.

“Our front line workers are critical to the success of our industry,” says Ken Fiske, Edmonton Economic Development Corp.’s Vice-President Tourism, Events and Motion Pictures.  “Edmonton Tourism is proud to produce the You’re Welcome Edmonton program and awards gala in partnership with industry. We salute all of the 2008 nominees.”

The evening brought together nominees, their family and friends, a dazzling array of Edmonton performers (courtesy of Edmonton Tourism’s Festival City in a Box program presented by TransAlta), and distinguished guests including Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach and Edmonton Mayor Stephen Mandel.

Teams of industry partners from the hospitality and tourism sector conducted a record number of interviews this past April to determine the finalists for 17 award categories.
