Energy
Edmonton’s energy infrastructure is the legacy of more than 6 decades in the conventional oil, gas and petrochemicals industries. In recent years, our energy sector has seen dramatic growth due to Edmonton’s proximity to the rapidly growing oil sands and unconventional gas production in northern Alberta and northeastern B.C.
In partnership with the Government of Alberta, the City of Edmonton and Alberta Industrial Heartland Association, EEDC continues to build for the future by contributing to the planning, development and promotion of a world-leading eco-industrial petrochemical sector for Greater Edmonton.
To position Greater Edmonton at the forefront of this industry, EEDC also supports the National Buyer/Seller Forum and Oil-sands Tradeshow and Conference. We will also host the World Heavy Oil Congress again in 2011.
‘Edmonton energy resources are a hotbed of opportunity’
The Edmonton service area has the 2nd-largest and the most politically stable oil reserves in the world.
Edmonton is strategically located between that massive energy resource and the world’s largest energy consumer, the U.S.
Greater Edmonton today is a hotbed of expanding opportunity.
