Multi-Purpose Metropolitan Skylines

The downtown Edmonton skyline easily doubles as any modern North American city. It offers all kinds of angles for dramatic backdrops.

North Saskatchewan River Valley

The wide North Saskatchewan River Valley divides Edmonton down the middle. It’s the largest urban parkland in North America (22 times the size of NYC’s Central Park). It’s a great green space in the summer, and in winter a white vastness.

Distinctive Buildings

Edmonton’s Alberta Legislature Building is a great, old piece of sandstone splendour. A glass pyramid rises from our modern City Hall. In the river valley are a cluster of glass pyramids. The vacant Charles Camsell Hospital is a ready-made medical set. Choose from many other prominent buildings with a wide variety of characteristics.

From modern trendy to classic old buildings, Edmonton has the gamut. Funky shops and bars now occupy the 19th century Old Strathcona District’s Whyte Avenue, with lots of picturesque red-brick buildings available. Old Glenora offers tree-lined boulevards and stately houses, some of them turreted. University of Alberta features collegiate buildings in a park-like campus.

West Edmonton Mall

"For something entirely different, a trek to Edmonton is definitely in order. The West Edmonton Mall, known as the largest indoor mall in the world, is an over-the-top experience that draws more visitors to Alberta than any other attraction in the province. The surreal shopping, eating, and entertainment arena is shoulder-to-shoulder with customers during the winter chill. Not only is it an architectural marvel with its domed curved glass ceiling, the larger-than-life complex boasts its own waterpark, amusement park, bungee tower, daily sea lion show, as well as mall hotel called the Fantasyland Hotel".
