Since standards in education and licensing vary from country to country, there are resources for foreign workers and students to determine how their qualifications compare with Alberta standards.

You should seek an assessment from the International Qualifications Assessment Service for a certificate, which will help local schools and businesses recognize the value of your education in Alberta standards.

Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials (CICIC) A bilingual site that provides a thorough overview of information about credentials, education, qualification, and employment in Canada. It is well organized and easy to navigate.

Government of Canada - Immigration The "first stop" site for anyone thinking of immigrating to Canada, with lots of important links, to both related governmental and non-governmental agencies.

Immigration expert Directed at immigrant workers, especially those seeking a “skilled workers visa”. Includes step-by-step guide for assessing eligibility, a resource page about living in Canada, and links to major embassies. 

International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) The IQAS provides an advisory educational assessment service which compares educational qualifications from other countries to provincial educational standards.

National Occupational Classification Offers very detailed description of jobs in Canada, what they are, and the requirements needed to work in each category. The site is bilingual and searchable.
